I better come clean right now, I'm no expert in the kitchen. But that is why I've decided to write these Hubs on cooking. My motto is: If I can do it then anyone can do it."

Back in the days of black and white TV when I was a young man the kitchen was foreign territory and the stove could have been the Tardis as far as I was concerned. But when I started living on my own I also had to start feeding myself. I could do bangers and mash. I could fry fish fingers. I could manage spaghetti. But not much else.

When I've been in the kitchen burning things, spilling things or dropping things...I've been working in motor insurance in one capacity or another for the last 15 years. Hubs I have written about this subject is based on all the questions policyholders have asked me over the years.

So I started to read the recipe columns in the papers and even bought a couple of cook books. I was looking for simple (& I mean simple) recipes that needed just a few ingredients and could be cooked in under 30 mins. But the trouble was that the cooking experts had a very different idea from me about what "simple" meant. The experts live in the kitchen, I don't go near it unless I'm hungry. But even so my meals are quite decent and i know that's true because my mum says so. And every man knows praise from your mum is praise indeed.
